Advent - look back #3

The people who walk in darkness

feel sorry for
ashamed of
distance selves from
appreciate that we are not like
disturbed by the nearness of
      them

The people who walk in darkness

comfortable enough
busy with deadlines
rushing to soccer practices
concerned by daily headlines
annoyed with
     them

The people who walk in darkness
trying for more, better, my own
sharing coffee with
  us

Light has shone... still shines
dispelling darkness, but
too bright
hurting eyes and sensitivity
altering the landscape
disturbing the quiet of sleep in the dark

send someone to
confirm, uphold, protect and provide for
   us

against

 The light
