Why did we wait so long to add a deck on the front side? Well, besides money...
It is so inviting especially as the seasons change - for tea break, a quiet read, a chat with a passing neighbor. And now Grandma H. can get out of the house whenever she wants, just by stepping out her side door. No longer need she wait until one of us is available to lift her walker out the front door (or we wait until, for example, her morning routine is at the point when she is ready to go out).
Of course, a plan for plants or herbs bordering the deck is still to be decided.
