Disappointed

"Bummed" is the vernacular expression, I believe, though perhaps too strong for what I felt last evening.  I "was bummed" that someone placed an offer to purchase 2014 Hillock Place before we could make a 2nd visit or even make our own offer.

Why did I like the house & property?
  • affordable purchase price, though getting up there
  • open kitchen
  • large living room
  • 1st floor master suite
  • formal but large DR, and open to LR
  • two stairways to 2nd floor
  • upstairs plenty of space for guests and grandones
  • dual zone heating and cooling
  • double garage; separate storage with electricity
  • 1.2 acres, mostly open; room for play and garden
  • paved driveway
  • within 7 miles of our present home
  • porch with roof
  • very well constructed and cared for
  • within 5" walk to Eno River and trails
Downsides?
  • we would need to put aside $150 more/month toward property tax
  • aluminum siding on part of the house
  • though located on a no-outlet street, much of the traffic will have to pass the house
  • would want to replace the sink and stove eventually
OK, so how do I "deal with" my disappointment?  After all, I am regularly meeting people or at least hearing about lots of others' disappointments.  Now I have my own, though admittedly it is not major bummer (we do have a fine home that is paid for!).  Options:
  • Fuel annoyance by pouring on repeated self accusations, e.g. "Why did you wait?"
  • Pour out my disappointment to the Lord.
  • Consider that the Lord is caring for even this situation, i.e. He is aware of some factor(s) that I have no knowledge of.  Thus, He is protecting us from a "mistake".
  • Learn to wait on the Lord... still, while learning how to trust when I cannot see every angle.
  • Move on.  Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness - ah, did not I offer that perspective to someone else even recently, someone who was experiencing his own disappointment!

you know...next time you can usually still make an offer as well if you are willing to compete. :)
