A different kind

Jenny - your mom - was thrilled to return home last evening to find six telephone messages celebrating her birthday.  Six for each of the past decades, I guess.

We had gone to Wrightsville Beach for the day at her request.  As you can see the weather was unseasonably mild, enough to shed a couple of January layers.  On the beach and around the local park could be seen dozens of folk walking, jogging and playing as though it was Spring.  Alas, not yet.  But perhaps 'nature' needs more time for its annual sleep.

Prior to arriving on the "beach" we had stopped to walk along the Cape Fear River in Wilmington.  Quiet Sunday morning stroll.  Would we like a few days/nights in a condo overlooking the River *and* directly opposite the USS Wilmington and within easy hearing of the bridge spanning the River?  No.  Would we enjoy a cruise or even a paddle down/up the River?  Yes.

The day concluded (apart from the drive home) with a meal of pompano (fish) at a local Thai restaurant.  Good, though the dumplings were more delicious, I thought.
