With "Amy" manning the home front we two distanced ourselves from schedule, Internet, telephone, mail and the daily responsibilities of caregiving - for two whole days at the NC beach! We rented - first contact through Craigslist - a 4BR "bungalow" for the occasion at the south end of the Island. Very few people around. The weather was mostly mild allowing for us to walk, jog or bike on the beach. We spotted several dolphins feeding near the breakers as one of us dipped our toes (no further at 50 degrees ocean temps) in the sea. Oh, it looked so inviting! Next visit...

The last three were taken enroute home during a quickie stop (no ice cream shops open until 3/1) in Southport and a stroll along the water looking out over the entry to the Cape Fear River. (Did you know that more than a dozen Federal ships were sunk nearby during the blockade of this Confederate port during the War between the States?)

Cool Dad! SO glad to hear that you were able to have a little getaway. I like that last photo. Nicely done. No I didn't know that about the Civil War - VERY interesting!
